This Pie Session is a hands-on lesson in making classic all-butter piecrust. We will cover the how-to's as well as what pitfalls to avoid and the tricks to making a perfect crust. You will get to make your own dough, roll out your own crust for a 6 hand pies; 3 sweet and 3 savory. We will talk about what to look for in a finished crust and how to achieve the perfect color and texture.
Allison D’Aurizio is the head baker and co-owner of Flour and Fig Bakehouse, a market based business, working on opening a brick and mortar storefront. She’s been featured in Edible NE Florida, Edible Communities, Yahoo Food, Food and Wine online, locally EU, Folio and Jacksonville magazine. She started baking with her Grandmother in Virginia as a child then honed her skills working all over the Southeast after marrying. She has a love of all things honest, real and handcrafted.
