World Relief Jacksonvile is partnering with the University of Floria and the Florida Humanities Council to conduct 'Remembering Refugees in Jacksonville: An Oral History Project'. The project will document and record the personal histories of refugees who have resettled in Jacksonville both recently and over past decades. University of Florida graduate student, Seyeon Hwang, will be spearheading the project and interviewing individuals and families who are participating. Every story will be recorded, transcribed, and permanently stored in the University of Florida archives to bring awareness to Jacksonville's community of the presence and history of the refugees who live here.

The Refugee Oral History Project...'s Participants will receive either 7-day unlimited bus pass ($16) or a gas gift card ($15) in thanks for their part in the project. The interviews will be conducted from May 21 to 25. Locations may vary.

The Kick-off Meeting is a chance for the participants and coordinators to introduce themselves and learn more. However, the meeting is open to any person interested in learning more about the project and seeing what it is all about! Volunteer opportunities are available. Refreshments will be provided.
