The week of 5.14.18 — 5.20.18:
OccupyJax’s TakeEmDownJax campaign created June of 2017 (with organizers who fought for the name change of Nathan B Forrest High) has been organizing with The Northside Coalition of Jacksonville, The New Florida Majority, Reverend Ron Rawls of St Paul AME Church in St Augustine and several other grassroots organizations in Jacksonville and St Augustine to bring together a 3-day march from Jax to St Augustine! Between 5.14.18 — 5.16.18 New Florida Majority will be having events! 5.17.18 — 5.19.18 will be the march from Hemming Park to St Augustine! On 5.19.18 we will be meeting up with Reverend Ron Rawls for his Non-violent Civil Unrest walk down St George Street [https://fa...cebook.com/events/408536899608402/?ti=icl]. 5.20.18 marks Florida’s Emancipation Day.

You’re welcome to come for a few hours, a day, two days, or all three! Only do what you’re comfortable with. We have it mapped out to show where we’ll be at what times so you can meet at any time during the march.

Emancipation was proclaimed in Tallahassee on May 20, 1865, and still, we see the effects from an incomplete enforcement of emancipation, and how it paved the way for institutionalized racism against our communities. And for this, we organize, educate, and march. For Police Accountability. For the removal of white supremacists symbols from public spaces, we march. Against institutionalized racism, we march.

Big shoutout 🖤🗣 to Jacksonville Community Action Committee, the Northeast Florida Women’s Marches, and Veterans for Peace Jacksonville for your support! SHOUTOUT to Reverend Ron Rawls for logistics help!!!

We are currently accepting donations here: [ bit.ly/2vhOwAN ] YOUR CONTRIBUTION WILL HELP OUR CONTINUED EFFORTS OF EDUCATING OUR COMMUNITY, VISITS TO CITY COUNCIL & SCHOOL BOARD, MEETINGS WITH COUNCIL & BOARD MEMBERS, AND MUCH MORE. ALSO, WE’RE PLANNING EVENTS AND THE 3-DAY MARCH FROM JACKSONVILLE TO ST AUGUSTINE SCHEDULED MAY 17-19 VOICING OUR FIGHT AGAINST INSTITUTIONAL RACISM, ITS CONNECTION WITH & THE NEED FOR REMOVING CONFEDERATE & WHITE SUPREMACIST SYMBOLS FROM PUBLIC SPACES. WHEN YOU CLICK THE LINK TO DONATE, YOU’LL NOTICE, WITH THE SUPPORT OF VETERANS FOR PEACE JAX, THEY’RE ALLOWING US TO USE THEIR ACCOUNT FOR THE FUNDRAISING. THANKS FOR YOUR SUPPORT!
