MIAMI GARAGE ROCK COMES TO JACKSONVILLE
Experience the “Poets on Peyote Tour” on August 30, 2017
Garage-rock duo Deaf Poets and trio Peyote Coyote are hitting the road together this August to bring their vibrant, energetic live show to you all the way from Miami. The 1,250-mile trip has been fittingly dubbed the “Poets on Peyote Tour,” — a moniker that recognizes the atmosphere established by Deaf Poets’ embodiment of hard-hitting drums and distortion-soaked guitars and Peyote Coyote’s hypnotic grooves and harmonies.
Deaf Poets, comprised of Sean Wouters (guitar/vocals) and Nico Espinosa (vocals/percussion), have become regulars at iiiPoints music festival, performing for four years in a row alongside acts like Mac DeMarco, Unknown Mortal Orchestra, DIIV and Thievery Corporation. The band’s latest album “Lost in Magic City” is available to stream or purchase.
Guitarist and vocalist Ryan Huseman, bassist Jake Stuart and drummer Cari Gee of Peyote Coyote say they draw their influences from an array of music, past and present. From the likes of The Doors, The Beatles, Band of Horses and The Black Angels, the group creates a hypnotic blend of old and new psychedelia. The band is currently touring the South in support of their new album, “Other Moons” which will be released early next month.
Fans of psych, garage and alternative rock can enjoy the “Poets on Peyote Tour” on August 30 at Nighthawks at 8PM — $5 cover. Georgia based band Kick the Robot will also be performing alongside locals Honey Chamber.
