HAIL CASSIUS NEPTUNE
Hail Cassius Neptune fuzes art rock with R&B into a unique sound channeling Erykah Badu and Hiatus Kaiyote. Fronted by Kylie Jo and Wilson Stern, their music weaves a danceable tapestry for the mind, body & soul. The band has been compared to acts across the gamut from The Mars Volta and Primus to Frank Zappa and D'Angelo. Kylie Jo Stern's vocals bring together Lauryn Hill's sense of soul with Fiona Apple's sense of humor.
Their newest release «Oscillate» was recorded live at Medusa Studios in Gainesville, FL and is the first single from H!CN's forthcoming EP «LEMB». As reviewed by emergingindiebands.com: «Oscillate...finds the audience disentangling their own tendons to dip with the dive and hip with the highs in a track contextualised by sultry vocal and swinging rhythms.»
Gainesville-based purveyors of groovy-technical-progressive-mathy-instrumental metal that's waaaaaay too fun to miss out on.
They bring a wondrous blend of Progressive/Math/Metal in an instrumental format with inexhaustible doses of creativity – or as they've dubbed themselves – Adventure Prog. Velocirapture incorporates influences of jazz and post-rock, and even utilizes the trumpet and lush heavy synthesizers in their overall sound. Having been inspired by and performing with bands like Animals As Leaders, CHON, Scale The Summit, and Tides of Man, this progressive group creates soundscapes that range from mellow introspective melodies to crushing and chaotic math-metal levels of difficulty.
Velocirapture have recently completed work on their second album, an EP titled Planet Fun (out on 09/08/17 through the group’s Bandcamp page). Recorded, produced, and mixed by guitarist Alejandro Ellis and mastered by Jamie King (engineer for BTBAM, The Contortionist), the record combines the expansive ambition and raw approach of their debut with twice the impact, coherency, and intensity.
In the time since their formation in 2016, TriPow has quickly crafted a unique blend of jazz fusion, funk, gospel, and ambient sounds that keeps audiences engaged with its energy, variety, and attention to detail. They combine the groove and rhythm of bands like Snarky Puppy and Hiatus Kaiyote with the improvisation and atmosphere of jazz artists like Bill Frisell, Wayne Krantz, and the Robert Glasper Experiment. Emerging from the University of North Florida’s high level music school, all three members of TriPow are active members of Jacksonville, FL’s vibrant jazz and jam scenes. Members of the band have performed with a long list of Jacksonville and Florida-based artists, including DR. SCIENCE, Squeedlepuss, Parker Urban Band, Roosevelt Collier, John Lumpkin and the Covenant, Hail! Cassius Neptune, Ben Strok and the Full Electric (former Herd of Watts), Carpadium, Velocirapture, Billy Buchanan, Lisa McClendon, and many more.
TriPow has performed at the Jacksonville Jazz Festival After Dark, WJXT’s River City Beats, and Dragenslayor Collective’s Dorm Session video series (available at youtube.com/watch?v=XIaBehpmIoA
). Since March 2017 they have shared the stage with Aaron Lebos Reality, Stank Sauce, After Funk, Custard Pie, and more.
The band’s debut EP is currently in production.
