Spring Break is coming! Let's hike one of the most beautiful sections of the Appalachian Trail through the Roan Highlands and Whitewater Raft Section IV of the Chattooga River!

ITINERARY:
Leave UNF Lot 18 Monday March 20 6am
Hike Approx 23 miles Monday night through Wednesday afternoon. Go into Asheville for a meal on our way to the Chattooga River. Stay in Yurts Wednesday night. Raft Section IV Thursday. Cook and relax at the Yurts Thursday night. Travel back to Jax on Friday returning at aproximately 7pm.

PACKING LIST
Gear you need to bring:
Backpack (40-70L)
Sleeping bag (rated down to at least 20 Degrees F)
Sleeping pad
1 non cotton outfit for hiking (we will hike in same outfit for 3 days)
-shorts
-shirt
-wool socks x2
-rain jacket
-underwear
-long sleeve layers (fleece, puffy — down or synthetic)
**Do not bring cotton**
1 outfit for sleeping and hanging out at shelter
-hoodie or fleece
-long underwear
-wool warm socks
Outfit(s) for traveling and for meal in Asheville
Hiking boots or running shoes
Shoes/sandals to wear around shelter
2x Water bottles (1L Smartwater Bottles are ideal)
A metal or plastic camping cup (2 cup volume)
A metal or plastic spork (or lightweight silverware set)
A bowl
Toiletries — just teeth care, and contacts. Leave out the smellies like deodorant. (you can use products once we come off the trail and shower)
Towel
Headlamp with spare batteries
Trash bag — important to line the inside of your pack
Personal items (journal, picture of your dog, bible, book, etc.)
Bathing suit/shorts for rafting
Water shoes or old runners to wear rafting
Beanie
Hat
Sunglasses

IF THERE IS ANY GEAR YOU NEED, TRY TO CHECK IT OUT FROM UNF ECO-ADVENTURES (Open 12-5 — particularly sleeping bag, pad and backpack) OR BORROW FROM A FRIEND
